Practice Development Consultants (PDC) was founded in Sheffield in the United Kingdom in January 1990.  It currently operates from its head office in Swansea in the UK.

 

PDC provides unparalleled support to clients in the health sector, the higher education sector and the public sector. PDC staff work as management consultants and interim managers in the United Kingdom, the European Union, the Balkans, the post-Soviet countries, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and the continental states of America.  Our consultants work on short-term and long-term assignments.  In the last twelve years, PDC staff have worked on four different continents.

 

For 3 years, ending November 2008, the PDC team managed the EU funded Barbados Health sector programme, which involved reorganising the Ministry of Health; Linking planning with financial management; Strengthening family health services and home and community based care; Strengthening the management of the chronic non-communicable diseases; Developing a health information system; and Reform of the island's only secondary and tertiary care facility, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.  The technical assistance team also worked closely with the University of the West Indies (UWI) Faculty of Medcial Sciences to design and deliver a postgraduate Diploma in Health Systems Development and Health Service Management (DipHSM).  Our lead consultant, Stuart Morgan, an associate senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at UWI, is the appointed programme co-ordinator for the postgraduate DipHSM.
